Hydro Systems Announces Winner of 2nd Design A Tub Competition

Interior Design students compete to have their bathtub design manufactured by Hydro Systems and sold to mass market

VALENCIA, Calif., Jan. 24, 2019 — Today at Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM), Hydro Systems, represented by Kevin Steinhardt, Ashley Steinhardt and Stacy Yos, announced the winner of the 2nd Hydro Systems Design A Tub Competition.

“It is an honor to partner with FIDM to create a design competition that gives students a chance to work on a design that will come to life and be sold to the public, while also seeing what the upcoming generation of designers have in store for the future of interior design,” said Kevin Steinhardt, Vice President at Hydro Systems.

The Hydro Systems Design A Tub Competition is the premier design contest with a joint partnership between Hydro Systems and students of FIDM’s Interior Design Department. Through the Hydro Systems Design A Tub Competition, each student was granted access to all Hydro Systems’ products in order to help them create unique designs for their final residential and commercial design project.

Each student utilized their own inspiration boards to develop well-rounded designs based on historic decorative art styles such as: Vintage, Art Deco, Art Nouveau, Zen, Scandinavian, Industrial and more.

The winner was selected by a diverse group of experienced judges including Kevin Steinhardt and the department chair at FIDM Interior Design department.

The winner Shani Tal, found inspiration for her design with the look and feel of a hammock. According to Shani, “The tub is meant to be the focal point in the bathroom. Therefore, the tub would be placed in the center of the space for it to stand out. The design of the tub would be comfortable for two main reasons. First being that it is low to the ground, meaning, that it is easy to step into. The second reason are the curves. The curved angles make it comfortable for the bather to lay back and relax. Adding legs to the tub not only adds a unique design element, yet it allows the tub to remain in its original shape.”

Upon winning the competition Shani will work with Hydro Systems to manufacture her design and see it come to reality.

The winning design will be available for purchase in late 2019.

Press Release - Hydro Systems Announces New Manufacturing Facility in Georgia

Hydro Systems to Open New Manufacturing Facility in Georgia

February 21, 2018, VALENCIA, CA—Hydro Systems announced today that they have purchased and will soon be opening a new manufacturing facility in McDonough, Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta located in Henry County. This new operation will create 60 manufacturing jobs initially and hopefully increase to 100 within the first year. Furthermore, this plant allows Hydro Systems to have a new hub for manufacturing and shipping to the Eastern United States.

“With over half of the United States population living east of the Mississippi we have been looking to expand our operations for the last couple years and finally found the right location. This new facility will allow us to reduce the lead time on all bathtub orders placed in the Eastern United States by weeks and save our customers money with reduced shipping costs. This a big expansion for our family-owned business, and we are excited to be making this move during our 40th year in business” said Hydro Systems President & Owner Scott Steinhardt.

Hydro Systems expects this facility to be fully operational during mid-year 2018.  Additionally, it will allow orders placed by east coast customers to still be hand-crafted and custom made but delivered in about a week instead of waiting 3-4 weeks for products to be shipped from the California manufacturing facility.

“We are excited that California-based Hydro Systems has chosen Henry County for their new East Coast hub,” said Georgia Department of Economic Development Commissioner Pat Wilson. “Georgia is a premier location in terms of logistics infrastructure and accessibility, and I am confident that Hydro Systems will have access to a skilled workforce to fill the available positions.”

“Hydro Systems’ decision to locate its east coast manufacturing operation in Henry County is a huge success,” said David Gill, Chairman of the Henry County Development Authority.  “The Henry County Development Authority has consciously worked to attract more manufacturing companies to the County that will benefit from our outstanding workforce and strategic location near Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and the Port of Savannah.  Hydro Systems is a welcomed addition to our community.”
