Soaking Up the Views in a Wyoming Custom Home
Stunning views of the Big Horn Mountains inspired the custom home design that Sheridan, Wyoming-based In-Yarak Construction created for clients in the nearby Powder Horn Golf Community. Creating a seamless harmony between the interior and the outdoors, the firm places an emphasis on natural materials, custom fittings, and quality workmanship. Placing equal importance on beauty and durability (essential in Big Sky country, where the elements have a strong impact on materials), they created a home that “fits naturally into its surroundings.”
The clients’ goals included combining mountain modern architecture with traditional Wyoming materials. That aim is reflected in the primary bath, designed as a serene retreat. Central to the vision is the freestanding Hydro Systems Marquis bathtub, positioned in front of the windows offering breathtaking views of the mountains.
The clients visited a showroom to research and test options. The Marquis’ ergonomic design and ideal depth make it “incredibly comfortable,” as well as offering an immersive soaking experience. That made Marquis a perfect choice for achieving the relaxing experience they were looking for.
Style was an important factor, too. The tub’s clean, minimalist lines complement the home’s contemporary design. The firm chose natural finishes in the bath, such as light wood custom cabinets and doors, a natural stone shower, and large format natural stone tile floors. The smooth white finish of the tub is a perfect balance with the other finishes, contributing to the calming, spa-like feel of the space. The “sculptural presence” and open design of the Marquis “adds a sense of space and lightness to the room, making it feel more expansive,” according to the firm’s lead designer, who adds that its “placement in the center of the room enhances its role as a statement piece, inviting relaxation while anchoring the bathroom’s minimalist aesthetic. Its freestanding nature also allows for flexibility in positioning, ensuring it integrates seamlessly with the overall layout and complements the surrounding design elements.”
Centered beneath a picture window, the tub’s symmetrical silhouette is an anchoring element. Just beyond the windows, the dramatic landscape provides an inviting backdrop. Now enjoying the space, the tub, and the views, the clients are thrilled with the outcome.
